Day one at Coventry sees another British Champion for Poole CSC
Kicking off proceedings in Coventry was the Junior (Under 18) championship, unfortunately reigning champion Kenzie Bennett was unable to defend his title due to a knee injury so it was left to Oliver Saunders to fly the Poole flag. In a tough group Ollie raced hard and pulled off some incredible passes on his way to five straight 2nd places and finishing joint 4th overall. Kesgrave’s Ryker Jolly taking the overall win, congratulations to him.
Following next we had the Under 14 championship with Jamie Randall competing in Poole colours. He started exceptionally racking up wins across the board and in his final heat he faced his nearest rival on equal points. A must win heat to decide the champion, Jamie fired into the lead and never looked back taking a fifth win finishing on a 20 point maximum to be crowned 2024 British Under 14 indoor champion. Congratulations.
Next it was time for the Poole riders to compete in the team qualifying event. Poole were drawn in the first group lining up against the very powerful and experienced Ipswich, Birmingham and Great Blakenham squads along with the youthful Coventry team. The Poole team captained by Maddie Saunders in her last team match before joining Southampton for the 2025 season fought hard but narrowly missed out on a place in the final finishing 3rd in the qualifier.
Members of the Poole National League squad were also presented with the 2024 National League Champions shield by members of Kesgrave (2023 champions). A fantastic moment for the riders to celebrate their amazing achievements in the National League this season.
Huge congratulations to Kesgrave who also went on to win the team event final and become 2024 British Indoor Team Champions.
Last individual match of the day was the Under 16 group. Jamie Randall was again Poole’s representative in this promising group. Jamie rode incredibly bagging 15 points and 6th overall which is a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations to Kesgrave’s Ryker Jolly who won overall on maximum points.
Good luck to our Poole riders competing in the veterans, Women’s and open categories today.
