This coming weekend is the 30th anniversary of the Poole Clubs historic
journey to Rawicz in Poland.
Officials were Pete Barnes and Graham Sutton along with five
teenage riders, Steve and Kevin Lowman, Donna and Russell Cooper and Tom
Harris. Pete Kerley and his son Tom from Norwich also joined the party.
The 2000 mile road trip was in a hired mini bus funded by the British Cycle
Speedway Council. The two meetings at the venue in Rawicz drew huge
crowds, on the second day close to four figures attended to witness the first foreign
competitors to race on Polish soil.
